Today's sports fans
are no longer satisfied.

THE FANATIC.
Keep in mind, we’re not just talking about any and every sports fan. We’re talking about the sports encyclopedias, the die hard stat re-callers, the “I don’t play sports but I know everything about sports” kind of fans. We thought they couldn’t get enough of sports before? Well now, they really can’t get enough.

As the leading multinational, multimedia sports entertainment brand, ESPN has the opportunity to trailblaze a rather new journalistic approach: interactive and immersive multimedia.
TRADITIONAL JOURNALISM
AIMS TO RELIVE MOMENTS.
To put users in the shoes of a fan. To see the game from just one seat in a stadium full of thousands of seats. But if you remember, our fans are tired of reliving moments. They're hungry to be a part of the story.
VS.
INTERACTIVE AND IMMERSIVE JOURNALISM AIMS TO
REIMAGINE MOMENTS.
To see the game from a different perspective. To switch seats. And for us, that means trailblazing the ideation process of interactive and immersive storytelling.

WELCOME TO THE FAN EXPERIENCE.
For sports fans who want more than just scores and stats, The Fan Experience is an extension of ESPN’s website that features interactive and immersive stories about substantial themes in sport, society and culture. Unlike traditional reports and stodgy recaps where fans feel like they’re on the outside looking in, ESPN’s The Fan Experience is a new way to indulge in your favorite sports stories while also being a part of the story.

Why isn't anyone else doing this?

It’s not about technology. And it’s not about having a user need. It’s about ideation.
WELCOME TO SWITCHING SEATS.
Switching Seats is a microsite that provides sports journalists with idea generation tools to help them reimagine the story they’re trying to tell, incorporating interactive and immersive elements.

GIVING CREATORS
THE TOOLS TO REIMAGINE.
As users navigate through the stadium’s "seats," they’ll find that each seat has its own “ticket,” providing creators with countless interactive and immersive tools and examples to help them reimagine the story they're trying to tell.

Creating countless combinations

of new ways to reimagine stories for not only ESPN, but also media outlets, journalists and storytellers.

There's moments that make history. And then there's those who reimagine them.

Let's reinvent the industry.
